Fighting Caravans VHS - #VHS1819
|
Released in 1931, Fighting Caravans is one of Gary Cooper's earliest sound films. "Coop" plays Clint Belmet, a young frontier scout guiding a wagon train west. Along the way, he falls in love with an orphaned French girl played by Lili Damita, and confronts an evil trader in league with hostile Indians. An epic western in the tradition of 1923's The Covered Wagon, Fighting Caravans required two directors, two cameramen and nine composers. It is one of the few Paramount Zane Grey features to pass the 80-minute mark. In fact, the sizable crew shot so much footage that editor William Shea had enough to begin another Zane Grey picture, Wagon Wheels, which starred Randolph Scott.
